My story :
After being spotted living underneath a house with my litter of kittens, we were lured with tuna, caught, and brought to safety. My babies caught a ride to SCR in New York, where they were adopted shortly after! Originally, the plan was to have me spayed and return me to the neighborhood I came from, but I made it clear that wasn’t what I wanted.
When I first arrived, I was a little nervous, but I gave the people around me a chance and even accepted pets that same night. It took a couple of weeks before I felt truly comfortable—comfortable enough to walk up to people on my own and sleep out in the open with the rest of the crew here. Although I'm shy at first, I want to love everyone I meet and will take any chance I can get at a spot on your lap! I’ve been here for a while now, and though I still get spooked by my human friends sometimes, I like this indoor life 100% more!

*Retired Feral*
My story :
I was found scavenging through a gas station parking lot in the early hours of the morning. After spending my entire life out there, avoiding people to survive, I stayed very cautious, postponing my rescue for a few days. Once I was caught and brought back to the house, nothing changed—I didn’t want anything to do with this lady! She sat outside my kennel for hours, gaining my trust, slipping me snacks, and asking for dating advice. Eventually, this got boring, and I decided to give in.
Living inside has been life-changing for me! My hair is soft now, I’ve put on happy weight, and I’ve started to soak up all this people attention—only when I ask for it, though! I know I’m beautiful, but my body, my rules. :) I don’t appreciate being carried around, snuck up on, or forced into pets. It takes time to earn my trust, but I promise it’s worth it.

Some stuff you should know about me!
Age: 1-2 years old
Gender: Female, Spayed
Cool with: Pretty much everything
Not cool with: Bullying
Intake: 11/2/23
My story :
I walked up to a group of men recording a music video, trying to get my picture taken. At only six weeks old, I was homeless, infected with ringworm, and fighting an upper respiratory infection. No one knows exactly where I came from because I refuse to ever tell!
After being rescued, I was quarantined for a while, which sucked, but it didn’t take long for me to start healing. I was so happy to be let out in the house with the rest of the cats, where I could play like a kitten again. I even made besties with the foster bunny before he passed.
I’ve been here to see many foster kittens come and go. Each one I take an interest in—cleaning, looking after them—and, well, that pretty much sums up the kind of cat I am.
Tater
Some stuff you should know about me!
Age: 5-6 years old
Weight: 7olbs
Gender: Male, Neutered
Cool with: Cats, Other dogs, Being in the car, Going out in public
Not cool with: Young kids, Arguing, Loud noises, being home alone all day
My story:
Tater was surrendered to a rural shelter in February 2022 when his owner fell ill and could no longer take care of him. Tater is a friendly and loving dog who makes it his mission to meet new friends wherever he goes! A total lap dog at heart, he also has a curious nose that could lead him on endless adventures. Tater enjoys cuddling up for TV time just as much as he loves sniffing around outdoors. While he gets along well with most dogs and cats, he can be a bit protective of his belongings (he wishes everything was his, can we blame him?!)
